“Generations of Generosity” Capital Campaign

Building for the Future of Grace Cathedral

Welcome to Grace Cathedral’s “Generations of Generosity” capital campaign information page.
This campaign and building project is important to the Cathedral because it is providing for our current
needs
as well as helping secure our future as an active, viable and attractive downtown church.

Phase One of our Capital Campaign Building Project is complete and we couldn’t be happier! The
renovation of the Cloister Building has given us a beautiful new entrance hall for the church, making the
entire facility more user-friendly. It has created a space from which the entrances to all other areas of the
Cathedral can be clearly viewed and easily accessed.

Now it’s on to Phase Two – a new main floor Parish Hall.  After discussion with the Cathedral Vestry
and the Diocesan Council of Trustees, a decision has been made to start construction on the new parish
hall and diocesan offices this fall. If we stay on our proposed schedule and timeline, we will break ground
on October 1.

We decided to begin now, rather than waiting another year when most of our pledged funds will be in,
because our experts have told us they expect building prices to rise 10-15 percent over the next year.
By locking in prices now and beginning construction, we can maintain the current building cost throughout
the project. If necessary, borrowing against our pledges at 4-5 percent made a lot more sense than waiting
on these funds to come in and paying the cost of the building price increases.

This will be an exciting year for us as we add a new main floor parish hall to our facilities at the same time
we celebrate the centennial of the completion of the Cathedral (1917-2017). Wouldn’t it be great if we
could celebrate that event debt free?! Please do what you can as early as you can!

If you weren’t able to participate in the capital campaign earlier, it isn’t too late to make a pledge.
Even though we have reached our pledge goal for the construction of the new parish hall, we have a
minimal amount included for “furniture, fixtures and equipment,” so there is still a need for additional
funds. Y
ou can click on the “donate now” tab on the bottom left-hand corner of the website to make an
instant donation, or click on the “pledge card”
link to make a sustained commitment through weekly or
monthly giving. Every gift—large or small—is greatly appreciated!

In thanksgiving,
Steve Lipscomb+, Dean of Grace Cathedral
