CHILDREN, 2nd floor Sloan Sunday School Wing, 9:30-10:15 a.m.
This year we have introduced a new concept in Children’s Sunday School: The Rotation Workshop Model. Children have the opportunity to study and experience Bible stories and themes through different mediums and activities each week. Each story or theme is repeated for four weeks with the children rotating to encounter the story through arts and crafts, drama, music and interaction. The Children’s Sunday School wing has been completely remodeled for this curriculum. We will have a formal dedication on September 28 at 10:15 a.m. We’re excited about this new program! We hope everyone with children ages 3 through 5th grade will make sure their kids are here to participate.
The schedule for this fall’s rotation—“Journey of Faith”—is as follows:
September – Dig into the Bible
October – Creation
November – The Gift of Jesus
December – Preparation for the Christmas Pageant
This new curriculum and way of doing Sunday School is innovative AND it is very volunteer- oriented. So if you are interested in giving four weeks to help out with Children’s Sunday School, we’d very much like to hear from you. Call Ben at 235-3457. Thanks for your support!
CHILDREN’S CHAPEL, Room 211, 10:30 a.m.
Children’s Chapel is an age-appropriate
Episcopal liturgy for children approximately
5-8 years old. Ben Fulton and Jessica and Frank Finley
are Chapel leaders, joined by youths
Sjobor Hammer, Seth Synovec and Samantha
Vosburgh. Together, they lead
children in hymns, prayers, Bible stories,
and a children’s sermon – with
a few surprises along the way! The
children’s services are held
during the first half of the 10:30
service. Children rejoin their
families for Communion during the Peace.
MIDDLE SCHOOL, Room 210, 9-10 a.m.
The middle school years are crucial for developing a healthy sense of who we are and our relationships with others. Millie and Kathy use a variety of media, activities, and discussion topics to explore the values, stories and sacred places that are important to building a faith community among youth.
SENIOR HIGH, Room 212, 9-10 a.m.
Each generation sees an increase in the number of young people for whom faith is a low priority. A major research project showed a growing indifference and even hostility toward Christianity in the mid-teen through twenties age group. Why? The reasons are explored in the book "UnChristian" that Michael and Kathy will use with videos and other materials to stimulate discussion on the relevance of this research to our daily lives and values as Episcopalians.
